Welcome to Parkview

Parkview Services is a non-profit organization serving King and Snohomish Counties that supports people with developmental disabilities and their families. Parkview was started by Norman and Stella Chivers in 1967 with the purchase of the state's first group home located up on Capitol Hill. It was the Chivers' vision that this home would provide families a community-based alternative to institutionalizing their son or daughter.

Today, over 40-years later, young adults with a developmental disability live at this home and go about their daily lives much the same as anyone else: working, playing, and enjoying friends, family and their neighborhood.

Parkview has a Board of Trustees that is responsible for the direction and leadership of the organization. The Trustees are all volunteers with a mix of family members and other concerned community members.

Today Parkview has five distinct programs: Parkview Group Home, The Affordable Housing Program, Camp Parkview, The Homeownership Program, The Home Maintenance Program, and the Washington Homeownership Resource Center.

Programs

		Affordable Housing Homes owned by Parkview to rent to extremely low income people with developmental disabilities, where rent is set at 30% of income including utilities.				Camp Parkview Offers retreats in spring and fall, and a summer camp located on Vashon Island and staffed by volunteers.
		Homeownership Program Provides Education and Down Payment Assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families who live with them so that they are better able to afford and keep a home of their own.				Washington Homeownership Resource Center Is an unbiased, community-sponsored, non-profit agency that knows the programs, products and people throughout Washington State that can help make your dream of homeownership a reality.
		Parkview Group Home Six adults live in and receive daily support services in a beautiful home on Capitol Hill.				Home Maintenance Provides low cost basic repair and maintenance services to our Affordable Housing and Homeownership Programs. 		Cohousing Community Parkview is developing an intentional community that will embrace and support families and people of all ages and abilities to have a life of purpose, dignity and opportunities for full inclusion in the community.
